Family Pilot — not yet validated: What has not been validated yet

Version 0.1.0 · desk and safety review August 29, 2026

This page is available early for family testing. The activity has not yet been completed to prove every instruction, value, timing estimate, visual, or accommodation.

Stop safely: before diagnosis if food safety, allergens, injury, broken glass, heat, refrigeration, or equipment condition is uncertain. Quality troubleshooting never overrides discard or emergency boundaries.

Report a problem or pilot result

Cooking Quality and Troubleshooting Ladder

Use these six steps in order:

  1. Stop and make it safe — tasting stops; heat off when relevant; tool down; spill contained; questionable food isolated.
  2. Name the criterion — identity, amount, texture, temperature, timing, structure, flavor, storage, or station restoration.
  3. State the symptom — describe what happened without hiding it or guessing why.
  4. Return to the last known-good checkpoint — find the first place where evidence changed.
  5. Run the smallest check — label, measure, timer, temperature, utensil history, or one isolated sample.
  6. Change one variable and repeat the criterion — or stop if a safe small correction is unavailable.

Discard and stop boundary

Do not diagnose by tasting when an ingredient, allergen, refrigeration condition, contamination path, doneness requirement, spoilage, or recall is uncertain. The parent decides whether questionable food is discarded.

Technical versus preference

“The spoon went from my mouth back into the bowl” is a technical failure. “I prefer berries on top” is preference. Fix safety and function first; use preference for the learner-owned adaptation.
